5 locations in L’Orignal for family photos

This one hits home because it’s my hometown. L’Orignal is a village that sits on the Outaouais river just outside of Hawkesbury and is a small thriving community. I’ve loved raising my family here. If you haven’t been, take a quick drive and visit this charming town. I’ve listed below my 5 favorite locations in L’Orignal for photo sessions.

  1. L’Orignal Park

This park is definitely my favorite place to go. It has mature trees strewn through the park and offers a big wide open space to walk around. I usually have my grad mini-sessions here and some of my Fall sessions. You could even bring your dog to your session and include all or most of the members of your family (sorry to all the forgotten goldfishes). This park offers shade as well and park benches. The downside to this location is that it is located beside a busy street and a skate park.

  1. L’Orignal Beach

Can you keep a secret? We have a gorgeous beach in L’Orignal. Shhhhh! I love using this place for our Spring sessions. Summer is too crowded for my taste, so I like to use it before school break starts. Picture toes in the water sitting on the sandy beach for these photoshoots. There are some swings as well that we could use for some fun candid portraits. The beach screams FUN! Bonus points for this location for the dock. Nothing beats a sunset family photos on the dock. (Trust me!)

  1. Elisa street trails

If you drive up to the end of Elisa street there are private trails that locals use all year round to walk with their families. I love walking this spot with my dog, Diesel. It gives me a solid 3,5km. I typically use this location for Fall and Winter sessions with small groups. Spring is a little too muddy for me. The trails aren’t very large either and it can make it difficult to walk side by side with a large family. Nevertheless, it is a really beautiful place to have a photoshoot. Another downside, we might have to take breaks to let hikers pass.

  1. L’Orignal Marina

Since L’Orignal is located on the Outaouais river, we have a beautiful marina for locals and tourists to use. It can be quite busy during the Summer months, so I like to use it before and after. If you own a boat and would like to incorporate it in your session, let us know (I’ll need to find myself a life vest first!)! The views of the river are just beautiful and make for memorable portraits.

  1. Laurier Pilon Park

Lastly, is the children’s park in the heart of the village. It has a play structure, swings, benches and a gazebo. It’s a fun option for families with young children who live life FULL SPEED. I don’t expect your kids to stay still for very long, so once we have a couple of family shots we can go play with them.

If you would like to share other spots that we missed, please do! Also, if you own a beautiful lot and are willing to let me use it once in a while, I would love that (We can barter).
